FAST WE TEACH ABOUT EQUALITY AND SOCIAL SOLIDARITY.

Fasting means etymologically hold, ie resist eating, drinking, sexual activity and other matters that could reduce or nullify fasting. As individual worship, the worship of fasting is known only to the perpetrator and God alone. People can pretend to be fasting, but they are not. In fact, one can do fast, but did not receive the reward of fasting worship. Fasting is a process of self purification. From this aspect, fasting is an instrument to build awareness for people to be obedient to God, so that will shape the attitudes and actions of ritual piety. But actually fasting also has a social significance, because fasting can be an instrument to establish social equality.

Equality is derived from the equivalent or equivalent. Thus, equality can also be called equality. According to the Big Indonesian Dictionary (KBBI), equal means equal levels (position, rank). Fasting will direct human attitudes and actions for social piety. Fasting is done with sincerity that high would be able to deliver it to have a critical awareness of the world around him. Awareness in the form of understanding that hunger, thirst, and abstinence was not a simple matter. Fasting is the month of Allah. What his words mean this? Presumably this is related to his word as well (in the hadith qudsy):

"Fasting is for Me, and I will personally respond."

So, we asked, would not all the acts (of worship) son of Adam is for Allah, and do not you all reward for deeds (worship) the son of Adam is given by God? To the surprise of many people, the answer is negative. Not all acts (of worship) is the son of Adam to God. In a Hadith Qudsi, God explains:

"Every act of the Son of Adam is for them, except fasting. So fasting is for Me and I will reward him ".

Can be clearly deduced from the above Hadith Qudsi that sesungghnya benefit all acts (of worship) humans back to the perpetrators themselves. Except fasting. Fasting get the glory that is so sublime that is referred to as providing "benefits" to God such that God himself gave special reward him.

Why is that?

One day God said to Moses: "O Moses, where devotions to me?". Moses then immediately replied: "Verily all my worship is for You, O God." A hadith tells us exactly about this:

"One of the lessons contained in the fasting is for ... God gives His servants similarities between, so that the rich can feel the pain of hunger and pain, so that they can humble himself before the weak, and pity the poor. "

In subsequent analyzes, fasting can be termed as the most complete form or manifestation of our diversity. Been great scholars Nusantara, Shaykh Yusuf Makassari, establish some traditions to show what exactly the nature of religion.

"Religion is to know God (ma'rifatul-lah). Knowing God is true to the character (which is good). Morals (good) is the connecting cord affection (silaturrahim). And silaturrahim is 'put happiness in your heart (fellow) we (idkhalus-fi Surur qalbil-brother)' ".

Of the fabric of the above hadith clearly show how real-peak nature of religion is to do good to fellow human beings, eliminating the trouble and bring them happiness. Presumably this is not a surprising discovery. Because this is not the apostolic mission of Muhammad?

"And never will We sent thee (Muhammad) except for the cast of love to the universe."

          So, let us live fasting with full awareness of the lessons should we take from it. Ie, empathy and social solidarity to others, especially to the poorest of the poor are still scattered in the country, around us.
